Detection

Detection is the process of checking a home or building to locate mold, moisture, or conditions where mold is actively growing or has the potential to grow. At Origin we visually inspect for mold, check for active moisture or leaks, and use unique tools and resources to find hidden mold.

At Origin detection is critical. Our mold inspection is a comprehensive, multi-step process designed to identify both visible and hidden mold issues, as well as the conditions that allow mold to grow.

We begin with a detailed visual assessment of the property, looking for: Signs of visible mold growth, water damage, staining, or discoloration, areas prone to moisture buildup.

Air quality sampling uses professional-grade equipment to capture airborne mold spores from inside your home. These samples are then sent to a certified scientific laboratory where they are analyzed to identify mold types and concentration levels. This process provides accurate, data-driven results, helping determine whether mold is present and if indoor air quality is impacted.

Why Use a Mold Detection Dog?

When it comes to finding hidden mold, nothing compares to the precision of a trained mold detection dog. Dogs have an incredible sense of smell—up to 100,000 times more sensitive than humans—allowing them to detect mold at levels no equipment or visual inspection can match. Even when mold is hidden behind walls, under flooring, or in ceilings, a detection dog can pinpoint the exact location within inches.

Because mold spores are heavy, they naturally settle downward through the air. That means mold growing in a ceiling or wall cavity can often be detected at floor level—and our dog is trained to follow that scent trail back to its exact source. In fact, it’s not uncommon for our dog to alert on a specific spot on the floor that leads us directly to hidden mold above.

This method is not only incredibly accurate—it’s also completely safe, non-invasive, and efficient. There’s no unnecessary cutting into walls or guesswork, saving you time, money, and disruption.

And just as important—our dog’s safety and well-being are a top priority. Our detection dogs are professionally trained, carefully handled, and only work in environments that are safe for them. Their exposure is minimal, controlled, and monitored at all times.

Fast. Accurate. Non-invasive.

If you want to find mold without tearing your home apart, a mold detection dog is the smartest place to start.
